The Iberian Peninsula is one of the places with the greatest cultural, geographical and climatic diversity in Europe. “Like a continent in miniature size” as some geographers have described it; rich in history and traditions, forged over the centuries by its different inhabitants, giving it a unique and different character.
On this tour the travellers will have the opportunity to see first-hand one of the oldest and most well known traditions in the whole world: THE SANTIAGO PILGRIMAGE TRAIL also known as ST.JAMES´S WAY (El Camino de Santiago), a route that began to be frequented by pilgrims in the ninth century and still continues today.
The trail’s objective is to reach the tomb of the Apostle Santiago (St James), which is located inside the Santiago de Compostela Cathedral in Galicia, from different parts of Europe.
The route will start in Bilbao, where the travellers will disembark the ferry from Portsmouth and from here the tour will drive along the beautiful roads of northern Spain, stopping in different cities, enjoying great hotels and wonderful landscapes, until reaching Santiago de Compostela.
Tourers will have the opportunity to get to know the north of Portugal for a few days, visiting the impressive city of Oporto and tasting its famous wine along the banks of the Douro river, after which they will return to Spain stopping in Salamanca and Valladolid. From there travellers will return to Santander where the ferry will return to Portsmouth.
